Maggie Thurmon: From Viral Family Videos to an Acting Career
Maggie Thurmon built a huge online audience with fun family content, but her story started years earlier with acting, performance training, music, and independent film work.
Introduction
Maggie Thurmon is an American actress, content creator, singer-songwriter, and podcast host from Atlanta, Georgia. Many people first found her through funny TikTok videos with her father, Dan Thurmon. Her performance career, though, started much earlier.
She was acting as a child.
Born on June 10, 2002, Thurmon grew up around performers, writers, musicians, and filmmakers. She later built millions of social-media followers while continuing to pursue acting. Her best-known movie role to date is Zoey Wallace in the 2023 romantic comedy The Other Zoey.

Early Life in Atlanta
Maggie grew up in Atlanta.
Performance was already around her. Her family had strong links to writing, public speaking, music, filmmaking, and live entertainment.
Maggie has spoken about her connection with Atlanta Workshop Players, an organization that helped her learn and practice performing from a young age. She said her family had ties to AWP before she started attending its programs herself.
She began joining its camps when she was around 10.
That mattered. A lot.
The workshops gave her space to act, perform, learn from other young artists, and take her interest seriously. In a later interview with AWP, Maggie encouraged young performers to learn from teachers, classmates, and real experiences rather than thinking one lesson would teach them everything.
Maggie Thurmon’s Parents and Family
Creative work runs through the family.
Her father is Dan Thurmon, a professional speaker and performer. Maggie later became widely known for appearing beside him in dance videos, challenges, question-and-answer clips, and their podcast.
Her mother is Shay Thurmon.
Shay’s professional website describes her as an award-winning producer, screenwriter, playwright, and director. The same official profile identifies Maggie as an actor, influencer, and songwriter.
Maggie also has a brother, Eddie Thurmon.
Shay’s site describes Eddie as a musician, editor, and film-score composer. He has taken part in family-linked creative projects too.
So, basically, creativity was normal at home.
Starting Acting as a Child
Maggie’s acting work started years before TikTok.
IMDb lists her as Sally in the 2010 short film The Candy Shop. She was only a child at the time. Her IMDb profile says she grew up working within the East Coast independent filmmaking scene.
More short-film work followed.
Her documented acting credits include:
| Year | Project | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 2010 | The Candy Shop | Sally |
| 2016 | Tip-Off | Shannon |
| 2016 | The Fallout Shelter | Student |
| 2017 | Lemon Made | Jack’s Fan Club |
| 2019 | Summer of Charlie | Liza |
| 2020 | Jump | Hannah |
| 2021 | Reset | Haley |
| 2023 | The Other Zoey | Zoey Wallace |
IMDb currently lists these credits under her acting work.
That timeline clears up one common misunderstanding.
Social media didn’t create her interest in acting. Acting came first.
High School and Early Content Creation
Maggie’s online career began taking shape during high school.
Her official Wholesome Chaos profile says she became a Hollister brand ambassador. The experience helped her learn about creating online content and understanding an audience.
She then began working on her own channels.
During her senior year, Maggie set herself a simple project: post a new video each week and document the experience of being a high-school senior.
She graduated in 2020.
Around the same period, TikTok was taking off.
So was Maggie.
TikTok Fame With Her Dad
The videos with Dan changed things fast.
During 2020, Maggie and her father became widely recognized for TikTok clips featuring dances, comedy, honest questions, family moments, and their now-familiar swimming-pool challenges.
Sometimes the loser got pushed in.
Sometimes both did.
That relaxed father-daughter chemistry became a big part of their appeal. Apple Podcasts’ description of their later show specifically points to those TikToks as the content that made the pair widely known.
Maggie’s official profile also describes her as a TikTok creator with millions of followers. PEOPLE reported in 2025 that her TikTok audience had passed five million followers.
Follower totals change constantly, though.
So the safest description is simple: Maggie has built a multimillion-follower TikTok audience.
Mags & Dad’s Wholesome Chaos Podcast
TikTok wasn’t the end point.
Maggie and Dan turned their family chemistry into a podcast called Mags & Dad’s Wholesome Chaos.
The show mixed funny family stories with conversations about life, relationships, personal experiences, confidence, and growing up.
Apple Podcasts lists the show as active from 2021 to 2023, with 77 episodes. Maggie Thurmon and Dan Thurmon are both listed as hosts.
The idea stayed pretty simple.
Talk honestly. Have fun.
Their official site describes the show around family relationships and real-life conversations rather than a heavily scripted interview format.
Maggie Thurmon as a Singer and Songwriter
Music has been another part of Maggie’s work.
She identifies publicly as a singer and songwriter, and her Atlanta Workshop Players interview discussed the release of her song “Our Movie.”
She talked about songwriting as a personal process and said new music was among the projects she wanted to keep working on.
Music hasn’t become the most visible part of her career.
Still, it is real.
Her official Wholesome Chaos profile continues to describe her as an actor, singer, and songwriter.
The Other Zoey
A big acting step arrived in 2023.
Maggie appeared in The Other Zoey as Zoey Wallace.
The romantic comedy stars Josephine Langford as Zoey Miller, alongside Drew Starkey and Archie Renaux. IMDb’s official cast listing confirms Maggie’s role as Zoey Wallace.
This became her most visible acting credit.
For viewers who knew Maggie mainly through short TikTok clips, the film also showed another side of her work: scripted screen acting.
PEOPLE later described The Other Zoey as her first major acting role and reported that Maggie wanted to keep building her screen career.
Moving Into More Film and Television Work
Maggie’s acting work has continued.
IMDb currently lists her in Lostlings, where she plays Lucy. The cast includes Kyla Nova, Briley Stout, David Barcena, Scottie Thompson, and other performers.
Her IMDb profile describes Lostlings as her first television series.
Another project is Chekhov’s Gun.
The film’s official website lists Maggie in the role of Jane and names The Other Zoey, Lostlings, and The Candy Shop among her acting work.
Public information around release timing can change, so no unconfirmed premiere date should be attached to these projects.
Reset and Another Family Connection
The 2021 short film Reset has an interesting family link.
Maggie played Haley.
Her mother, Shay Thurmon, wrote and produced the film, while her brother Eddie provided its original score. Shay’s official production page confirms those credits.
That project shows how closely creative work runs through the Thurmon family.
Different jobs. Same project.
Other Skills Beyond Acting
Maggie’s skill set isn’t limited to cameras.
Her official profile has described her as having circus and acrobatic skills.
In her Atlanta Workshop Players interview, she also discussed performance interests outside standard acting and talked about continuing to learn new things.
That fits her online style too.
A lot of her content works because she is comfortable performing physically, trying things, looking silly sometimes, and keeping the camera rolling.
Honestly, that’s part of the charm.
Working With Josh Duhamel
In 2025, Maggie appeared with actor Josh Duhamel on CarGurus’ The Big Deal Show.
CarGurus lists Duhamel and Thurmon as the featured pair for Episode 2, released July 29, 2025.
PEOPLE later interviewed Maggie about the shoot.
She said she had been nervous before meeting Duhamel but quickly found working with him comfortable and easy. The shoot lasted about five hours, according to her interview.
CarGurus also included Maggie among the talent involved in its 2025 campaign alongside names such as Tony Hawk, Reggie Bush, Aly Raisman, and Duhamel.
Public Personal Life
Maggie’s relationship with singer Benson Boone became public in 2024.
PEOPLE reported that the pair were first publicly linked in March 2024 and later appeared together at entertainment events, including the MTV Video Music Awards.
Their relationship ended in 2025, according to subsequent reporting.
Beyond confirmed public information, speculation about her private relationships should be avoided.
There is no need to guess.
What Maggie Thurmon Is Doing Now
Maggie’s career currently sits across several areas.
Acting remains a major focus. Her newer listed screen work includes Lostlings and Chekhov’s Gun. She also continues to have a large online audience, while her past work covers podcasts, music, branded content, and independent films.
PEOPLE reported in 2025 that she was excited about acting opportunities returning after a slower period in Hollywood and said new work was developing.
That’s the main direction now.
Screen work keeps growing.

The same applies to her weight.

There is no verified public figure for Maggie Thurmon’s net worth.

A specific figure would be guesswork.

Reliable public sources confirm that Maggie graduated from high school in 2020, but I did not find a trustworthy source confirming her college name, degree, or graduation details.
So those details should not be filled in from weak profile sites.
Final Thought
Maggie Thurmon’s story goes well beyond viral TikToks.
She acted as a child. Then she learned content creation, built a huge online audience, hosted a podcast with her father, released music, and moved into more visible film work.
The path hasn’t been one straight line.
That’s actually what makes it interesting.
Her strongest verified screen credit remains The Other Zoey, while Lostlings and Chekhov’s Gun point toward more acting work. For now, she can accurately be described as an American actress and digital creator whose career started long before millions of people began watching her online.
